STATE OF EMERGENCY – CITY OF BARBERTON
After careful consideration, many discussions with health care professionals, and the consideration for the life, safety and well-being of the City of Barberton residents, I am hereby declaring a state of emergency for the City of Barberton.
This is not a time to panic but a time to work together to combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and meet the needs of the community.
We are following the recommendations set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, State of Ohio, Summit County Health Department and other health care professionals.
City operations have been altered in order to comply with social distancing recommendations. Facilities have been closed to public access and internal operational changes have been made to continue providing services to our residents yet reducing interaction with the public.
These are unprecedented times and there are a lot of uncertainties, but I want to assure the public that my administration and leaders at the local, county, state, and federal levels are all working together to address issues and make the best decisions moving forward.
Utility and Building Department bill payments, permits and applications can be processed through the drive through window or drop box at the Finance Department located at 104 3rd St NW. Utility payments can also be made online at https://www.cityofbarberton.com.
For more information concerning COVID-19, visit https://www.scph.org/covid-19 or call the Summit County Health Department COVID-19 call-line at 330-926-5795.
I ask that you adhere to the recommendations listed below and review the City of Barberton’s website and social media for updates.
Safety recommendations to protect yourself and others:
- Wash your hands often with soap & water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol based hand sanitizer, at least 60% alcohol, if soap and water aren’t available.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands)
- Avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes.
- Avoid close contact. Keep space between yourself and others.
- Clean high touch surfaces frequently – phones, doorknobs, light switches, cell phones, desks, sinks, etc.
- If you have any signs of sickness, stay home.
