Barberton's History
Founded by industrialist entrepreneur O.C. Barber In 1891, Barberton was located along railroad lines, the Tuscarawas River and the Ohio Canal. It grew into a robust manufacturing town so quickly that it earned the “Magic City” nickname that remains to this day. Our history is built upon a legacy of business, manufacturing, renowned architecture, revolutionary agricultural practices and community pride. That same spirit of hard work, community and entrepreneurial spirit thrives today.

The City of Barberton is inviting community members and photographers to submit original winter photos showcasing the beauty of Barberton. Selected images will be featured on our downtown seasonal banners, highlighting local scenery, landmarks, parks, and unique winter moments across the community.
What to Submit:
• High-resolution, original winter photos
• Images featuring Barberton landmarks, Lake Anna, parks, downtown scenery, nature, or distinctive winter moments
• Photographer name and contact information included with the submission
How to Submit:

Mark your calendars. The 36th Annual Barberton Mum Festival begins tomorrow!!
Lake Anna will be filled with this year’s theme, “Mums in Bloom for the Red, White & Blue.” Visitors can enjoy thousands of colorful mums, great vendors, unique craft artisans, family activities, and live entertainment throughout the weekend.

• Dates: Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, 2026
• Hours: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM both days
• Location: Lake Anna Park, 615 W. Park Ave, Barberton, OH

Save the date! Tuscany on Tusc returns Friday, September 25!
Join us from 6:00p.m.–9:00 p.m. for an evening of traditional Italian food, live music, and fun under the lights of downtown Barberton’s Arts District. The event will take place on W. Tuscarawas Avenue between 3rd and 5th Streets.
Admission is free, and proceeds from the evening will support Magical Theatre Company’s education programs. More details are coming soon!

We’re looking for volunteers who can give just 4 hours of their day to help make this year’s festival a success!
This is a fast-paced, active, and fun event, and volunteers are an important part of making it all happen. It’s also a great opportunity to get our youth involved, give back, meet your neighbors, and take pride in being part of something that brings our community together.
If you have 4 hours to spare, we would truly appreciate your help. Whether you’re a student, parent, grandparent, longtime resident, or simply someone who loves your community — there’s a place for you!
