Barberton's History
Founded by industrialist entrepreneur O.C. Barber In 1891, Barberton was located along railroad lines, the Tuscarawas River and the Ohio Canal. It grew into a robust manufacturing town so quickly that it earned the “Magic City” nickname that remains to this day. Our history is built upon a legacy of business, manufacturing, renowned architecture, revolutionary agricultural practices and community pride. That same spirit of hard work, community and entrepreneurial spirit thrives today.

Don’t miss out on the 2025 Barberton Christmas Walk tomorrow, Saturday, November 29, in Downtown Barberton!
This beloved holiday tradition brings the community together for a festive evening filled with photos with Santa, a book reading by Mrs. Claus, crafts and activities in the Kid Zone, an elf scavenger hunt, live music, holiday treats, and a bustling Christmas market. Families can also enjoy writing letters to Santa, experiencing a live nativity scene, and gathering together for the magical Lighting of the Lake.
Celebrate the season with family, friends, and the spirit of Barberton, you won’t want to miss it.

Drive, Drop, & Give Back this Giving Tuesday
On December 2, 2025, the City of Barberton and The Barberton Salvation Army invite you to a drive‑up donation event. From the comfort of your car, drop off monetary or non‑perishable food donations and help kick off the Red Kettle Campaign.
Location: Salvation Army Parking Lot: 560 Wooster Rd West, Barberton, Ohio 44203
Morning Rush: 7:00–9:00 AM
Afternoon Drive: 3:00–5:30 PM
Donations are welcome anytime throughout the day, but we’re especially encouraging our community to rally together during the Morning Rush and Afternoon Drive times.
Let’s come together to support our neighbors in need and make this Giving Tuesday one to remember.
