LaFlavour began humbly in Massillon, Ohio in 1967. Twin brothers Pete and Steve Nervo (guitar and drums) joined with schoolmates Craig DeBock(guitar and sax) and Gino Milchak (bass guitar) to form the core of what would become several bands. By the mid-1970s, the boys had progressed into one of the hottest dance bands in the area, & began traveling as the show band"Ragweed". Thanks to Akron club owner Arnie "Red" Shapiro, they came to the attention of entertainment booking agent John Sansone from Buffalo, NY,who took over the booking for the band & decided to re-name them "Flavour". They became "LaFlavour" with the release of the album "Mandolay" in 1980, which was written & produced by Mark Avsec (of Donnie Iris and Wild Cherry fame). Two singles from the album made the Billboard charts, with Mandolay reaching #7 on the Club Dance/Disco chart, and "Only The Lonely" cracking the Hot 100 as a pop single. With certified success under their belts, La Flavour was signed to MCA records.

Motor City Gold comes to you with a diverse combination of all styles of music focusing on; Oldies, urban, R&B, and Motown but including many other genres depending on the venue theme. We have been performing together for almost a 20 year period. Motor City Gold infuses their music into a unique, cool, high-energy soundscape. Our band has gone through many transitions over the years as most bands do, and many members have come and gone and some still come back to play with us from time to time. We love what we do and want to continue for as long as we can......Presently the band consists of:
Elena Brown-Robinson and Lisa Harris (singers), Steven Robinson (lead and rhythm guitar), Ralph Balletta (keyboards), David Bivins (bass) James Washington (keyboards) and Terry Wade (drummer). As always we continue to pay homage to our singer and friend John Todd who has passed on (John we still miss you very much).

Having auditioned and been accepted into the U.S. Navy School of Music, bandleader Joey Thomas entered the U.S. Navy after graduation from Somers Central High School in North Westchester County, NY in June 1961. As a member of Unit Band 146 out of Norfolk, VA, Joey served as an American Ambassador of Good Will performing concerts across Europe and the eastern United States. After his military service, Joey continued performing on the road with many Top 40 bands, one of which performed shows with Dick Clark’s Cavalcade of Stars in the late 60’s. After a decade on the road, Joey settled in New York’s Capital Region satisfying his love of music and maintaining his chops by playing with a number of Top 40 & party bands including The Kings Four and Morgan BLVD. Joey tried to take a hiatus from the music world sometime in the late 1980’s, but he just couldn’t stay away. In May of 1992 he decided to put together the band of his dreams & thus, The Joey Thomas Big Band was born.
