Administrative Coordinator to Mayor

 Application Deadline: May 27, 2022 or until spot is filled

 Pay: Salary $37,791.54

 Responsibilities:

The Administrative Coordinator to Mayor will work closely with the Mayor’s staff to execute verbal, written and digital communications. Assist with social media management, including post and/or content creation. Assist with letter-writing, proclamations, press releases and any other necessary written communications tasks. Attend events with the Mayor as necessary. Take pictures and document information at events to share from the City of Barberton social media platforms. Assists with Mayor’s Office event logistics, including special ceremonies and events. This position also acts as the Chief Information Officer for the City of Barberton. Will also perform secretarial and clerical tasks, including but not limited to scheduling meetings, record keeping, screen calls and visitors, and maintain office record keeping system. 

 Requirements:

Must have a valid, State of Ohio driver’s license. Clear background check. Possess honesty and integrity of the highest standard and be able to maintain confidentiality in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations. 

 Preferred Qualifications:

Strong skill in the professional use of social media platforms. Skill in written and oral communication, problem solving, creative decision making, and proofreading. Strong project management skills and ability to work well on a team. Experience in social media and implementing marketing strategies, communications, or public relations work or equivalent experience. Proficient in Canva, Publisher or other graphic design platforms. Basic photography and videography skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Calendar.

Seasonal: Parks and Recreation

Application Deadline: April 29th, 2022 or until spots are filled

Pay: $11-$13.50 – Pay rate will be determined based on job title and experience

Time Frame: May 31st, 2022 - September 30th, 2022

Work Schedule:  Estimated 25-30 hours per week. Seasonal workers may seek up to 40 hours week pending department needs. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

The Seasonal Parks Employee will assist in the planning, implementation and execution of recreational programs in The Barberton Parks and Recreation Department. Seasonal employees will get the opportunity to work with programs including Youth programs, Summer Concert Series, Sports Complex, and Special Events. Employees will be expected to attend trainings associated with their job responsibilities, which may include paid travel.  

 Responsibilities

  • Assist with the execution and implementation of youth programs
  • Assist with fundraisers and special events
  • Assist with youth and adult sports 
  • Perform administrative duties associated with the Barberton Parks front office and senior center 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with youth, paid or volunteer
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Able to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings/weekends
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Clear Background Check
  • May be required to lift and move equipment up to 30 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Experience or interest in boating/watercraft activities
  • Management or supervisor experience

Current Exam Notices:

Plant Operator I

The City of Barberton is accepting resumes for a Plant Operator I position. Plant Operator I performs technical duties involving the operation and maintenance of treatment plant equipment and facilities. Starting salary: $23.45 per hour.

 

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and be insurable under the City’s insurance policy. Must obtain and maintain a State of Ohio Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six months of hire date and obtain an Ohio EPA Class I Operator’s License (Wastewater) within two years of hire.
